The tough part about teaching

There are many difficult parts to teaching, but one that I noticed is particularly frustrating is that you never have “easy weeks.” If I think up a really great activity for one week, spend a lot of time preparing for it, and it goes well, I do feel encouraged, but the following week I’m right back at square one, trying to think up another creative way to teach the next handful of lessons. Nothing really carries over from week to week or unit to unit. Assignments still need grading, and lesson plans and worksheets still need preparing.
